Microsoft: Open Source Impinge Hundreds of Patent

Microsoft claimed that open source software have impinged more than their 230 right patent. Fortune Magazine expresses the announced, writes from the statement of Microsoft lawyer, Brad Smith. According to Smith, Linux kernel has impinged 42 of Microsoft patent, whereas the interface design and other element design impinge 65 patents.

Openoffice.Org claimed impinges 45 patents, e-mail program impinge 15 patents, and other open source programs impinge 68 patent.

Because of that, Microsoft push the big company of technology which relying on Linux to sign the patent agreement.

The patent agreements which cause the controversy have taken place at November, when company signs the agreement with Novell. Microsoft also mention has conducted the discussion, but does not outcome the agreement with Red Hat.

Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, said that Microsoft competitor should have the same play rule in the business. "We live in the world that we respect, and hold the intellectual honor," said Ballmer, reported from ZDNet.
