Windows XP sales end at 2008

Windows XP Operation System will not be available at new computers since the end of January 2008. Is this the strategy of Microsoft to boost up the sale of Windows Vista?

The sell endded of course will affect to the computer producers. All XP versions, including for media center and tablet PC, will not available to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Microsoft had ensured that starts from 31 January 2008, the PC producers like Dell, HP, and Toshiba cannot buy OEM license to instaled in the product before sold to market. But, the PC producer is admited to obtain Windows XP license until 2009 if buying it from the supplier.

The step is taken by Microsoft though the market response to Windows Vista operating system still not great enough. The Poling by analyst firm Harris Interactive to market in US shows only 10 % of Windows XP user is planning changes over to Vista.

Microsoft claims the sale of Windows Vista excels Windows XP in certain time since release to market. Since launched, Windows Vista has been sold 20 million units to end of March, while Windows XP only 14 million.
